OD-E Publication in Top Journal

In October 2008, the Educational Researcher, an academic journal that all members of the American Educational Research Association receive, devoted a special issue to an article written by OD-E. This article focussed on the frustrations of experienced teachers who enter the academic educational world. The author of the article, Dr. Jacquelien Bulterman-Bos, showed that their frustrations made sense.

She used the example of the clinical approach in medical studies (where medical researchers are also doctors) to demonstrate the scientific merit of overlapping roles of researchers and professionals. The connection between knowledge and action has clearly contributed to the progress made in medical research.

Well known educational researchers commented on OD-E's analyis. While some of them did not see the necessity for connecting knowledge and action, most others deepened OD-E's approach.
